This was such a cool event to shoot. Mom Lisa's family has had produce stalls at the market going back nearly a century, so the place holds some special meaning. After the market's recent renovation, she had a vision that it would be the perfect location for Jonah's Bar Mitzvah Party. And she was right! The market sheds have a raw, industrial feel that made for an awesome party space! Of course, Dee Hoffman and her team helped with the transformation ;-)

some fun portraits with Jonah and the fam around the market
4 boys!! Mom deserves an award ;-) (you may recognize older brother Noah from his bar mitzvah just a couple of years ago!).
the food (by holiday market) was AMAZING. Here we have just a little sampling of some of the apps - watermelon with balsamic, sushi, gazpacho and shrimp cocktail. YUM!!
Dinner stations featured gourmet sliders, a mac and cheese bar, salad station, and all sorts of other goodies.
the kids were treated to a fun belt-making experience

This was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL wedding to photograph, and it was tough to pick just a small selection for the blog! If you've ever shot or attended an Indian wedding, you know the drill - a whole weekend packed full of amazing eye candy - I'm still sorting through the thousands of images we captured, but here's a few of my very favorites ;-)
I swear, I could shoot mehndi all day

the wedding day begins with a special ritual for the bride and her family
the wedding ceremony begins with the bride and groom separated by a length of fabric (which probably has a special ceremonial name that I totally don't know, LOL).
and here's a few of my favorite portraits of kyle and paulomi
thanks to kyle, paulomi and family for a wonderful weekend at harbor lights resort. we loved working with you guys (again!).

These two were married last month in Ann Arbor. They had planned for an outdoor ceremony on Ingalls Mall, but mother nature had other plans ;-) They were dealt some crazy weather (I'm talking full-on tornado warning, sirens and all) - but were such troopers and had a great attitude! If only all couples could be as easygoing about things out of their control.
Meera looked lovely - dress from V2V. We rushed through this first set of photos just before the downpour started!!
handsome groom....

a little behind on the blog, as always happens when things start picking up. plus, I have a neat-o NEW blog in development, so I guess I'm not as motivated to update this one ;-)

I always LOVE shooting the getting ready part of the day - I've found it often yields some of my very favorite images.
